Childcare opening times vary depending on the type of childcare provision provided.
You may find that childminders and nannies can be more flexible with childcare times, often offering early starts and late collections but if your childminder or nanny is ill (or on holiday) you will have to find alternative childcare.
Playgroups tend to be term-time only and usually offer shorter days.
Nurseries tend to be open most of the year.
Some close at Christmas and for a couple of weeks in the summer and some offer all round care.
Staff sickness should not affect your child’s attendance which can be helpful to working parents.
Playgroups and nurseries can usually remain open through staff sickness by adjusting staff rotas and part-time staff.
